Free Horseracing Tips at Newbury…listen to the Podcast, below

1:45 Newbury Measuring Time, Win. A decent race to open the card. This is a two year-old race so guess who is the trainer to back? Yes, Richard Hannon again. Still no Richard Hughes so the Champion jockey, Ryan Moore deputises. Hannon knows how to not only buy two-year-olds but also how to train them and more importantly place them to great effect. The stable have already notched up 115 winners this season, amazing, and I think this one will add to that tally.

2:15 Newbury, Markab, Win (NAP). He is in the form of his life and Markab, as a late maturer, is still improving. He beat off a decent field in Ireland (Group 3) and ran a cracker in the Kings Stand Stakes, at Royal Ascot, when second to Equiano. That one has since ran second to Starspangledbanner in the July Cup. This is rock solid form, by any standards. So what we have here is a Group 3 race with a horse who was second in a top quality Group 1 last time. He has a rating of 113, which amazingly in not the highest in the field but he looks the best of these by quite some way. Markab is my best bet of the day.

3:20 Newbury, Distant Reward, Win. Its back to the Richard Hannon show for the Weatherbys Super Sprint. Last time our Reckless Reward was second to Approve last time out in the Group 2 Norfolk Stakes. The winner Approve is a very high quality animal so a repeat of that run should be good enough to land the first prize of a little under £100k. Last years winner of the race was Monsieur Chevalier, which was trained by you guessed it, Richard Hannon. The trainer saddles Norfolk Stakes runner-up Reckless Reward, which he believes represents his best chance of success on Saturday, although he has five other bullets to fire. I fancy Reckless Reward with Ryan Moore in the saddle.

3:55 Newbury, Distant Memories, Win. Tom Tate is a very good trainer, based at Tadcaster in a very nice spot. Distant Memories is tough and consistent and always runs a good race. Last time out at York he defied a rating of 104 which has earned him a crack at a listed race. I think he will win this with Jamie Spencer taking the ride. I like the Tom Tate stable and I hope this one wins for a gentleman of the turf.

Lets hope for another good day!

York….

We will kick off with York….Free Horseracing Tips for Saturday (will keep it short today)

2:00 York, Harlech Castle, Win. This is a straight match in my book between Cornus and Harlech Castle. Alan McCabe has got the best out of Cornus again but Harlech Castle just keeps on winning and I think he is still on a decent mark. Jim Boyle has booked Ryan Moore which is in my view significant.

3:05 York Demolition, Win. Last time out Richard Fahey’s first string was second in the Old Newton Cup, although some way behind the winner that one was a blot on the handicap, so with that out of the equation Demolition ran a very good race. Off this mark therefore I think he is still quite competitive. In my view this is a very tough race but Demolition from the yard who knows how to win it is my pick here.

3:40 York, Drunken Sailor, Win (NAP). There may be a few drunken sailors in the crowd, but the horse is a decent sort. Kieren Fallon takes the ride for his primary stable of Luca Cumani and I think this is the best bet on the card here. He was second in the Northumberland Plate last time, to Overturn, this is form I think is rock solid and over the same trip, 1m 6f Drunken Sailor can win at York on Saturday.

4:50 York, Dubai Media, Win.Last time out this one was eight in the Sandringham at Royal Ascot. This is well below that level, in fact it is a maiden that really should go to Ed Dunlop’s three year-old. What price, that is the question?

Ascot….

2:50 Ascot Summer Mile, Premier Loco, Win. Back to form last time, winning The Criterion Stakes (group 3) last time out at Newmarket. Another Group 2 here can go to Chris Wall’s stable star, with an official mark of 119 he is the one to beat.

3:20 Chester, City Wall Stakes, Borderlescott, Win. Last year Borderlescott won this, just and I think he will follow up again. A very shrewd move by Robin Bastiman in the booking of the in form Tom Queally (Big Newmarket double Thursday).

Its the World Cup Final, and the third place play off this weekend. The big one is Spain v Holland with a English Referee, Howard Webb. We look at the World Cup Betting opportunities. This is the World Cup Betting Podcast for the World Cup Final….

Spain and Holland go head to head, Spain have conceded only two goals so far in the tournament and Holland have set a record of 14 straight World Cup Wins in 90 minutes.

Howard Webb is the referee, he is 7/2 to issue a card and 33/1 to send off Van Bommell which must be worth a few quid. On Saturday we have the third place play-off…
19:30 Uruguay (4) Draw (14/5) Germany (4/5)
Always a high scoring fixture, I fancy Germany as does Octopus Paul….

Holland offer genuine value here, but Spain will be tough to score against, only 2 goals conceded is an amazing record. For me though its Spain, but do all the boys agree? Listen to the World Cup Betting Podcast.

Some World Cup Bets….
WITH PUNTERS APPARENTLY reluctant to back Spain to beat the Dutch in the World Cup Final, William Hill are to lengthen their 90 minutes odds to an industry-leading 6/5 for online and telephone clients from 7a.m on Friday morning. ‘Despite already taking bets of £10,000, £25,000 and £50,000 for Spain to win the World Cup, we cannot now seem to persuade punters to back Spain to beat the Dutch in 90 minutes, so, as they are a seven figure winner for us we are trying to tempt punters to support them – hopefully Paul the Octopus will tip them to help us out!’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.

A William Hill Manchester betting shop client stands to collect £424,000 if David Villa, now 8/11 favourite to do so, ends up as tournament top scorer after placing a £30,000 double on Holland to win their Group at 4/7, with Villa at 8/1.

Another Hill’s shop punter in Essex placed a £250 treble on Rafa Nadal and Serena Williams to win their respective Wimbledon singles tournaments, running on to Holland – and will collect £30,000 if the Dutch oblige.

‘It has been a good World Cup for bookies thus far, with 52% favs winning , 27% draws and 21% underdogs, which doesn’t sound that great, except that the high turnover matches have tended to go our way – not least the England matches, and the Germany-Spain semi in which there were bets of 500,000 and 75,000 euros on a German win’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.

WILLIAM HILL now make Spain 4/7 favourites to win the World Cup, with Holland offered at 6/4.
Hills make Spain 6/5 to win in 90m with Holland 13/5 and the draw 11/5. (PRICES AVAILABLE FROM 7A.M.)

Hills offer 9/2 that the Final will go to a penalty shoot-out; Holland are 10/1 to win by that method, with Spain also quoted at 10/1. Holland are 11/1 to win in extra time, with Spain 9/1 to do likewise.

DAVID VILLA is 8/11 to end up as World Cup top scorer with Hills who also offer 5/2 Sneijder; 4 Klose; 14 Muller; 16 Forlan; 100 Suarez.

VAN BOMMEL FOR BOOKING?
WILLIAM HILL have cut their price for Van Bommel to be booked during the Final (90m play) from 9/4 to 13/8 after taking a string of bets of up to £600 a time on the tough tackling Dutchman to fall foul of the referee.

REPEAT FOR PUYOL?
AFTER Carles Puyol headed Spain to victory against Germany, William Hill offer 25/1 that he will score again from a header during 90m play of the Final.

FERNANDO PENALTY?
WILLIAM HILL offer 12/1 that Torres will win a penalty.(90m play)
ARJEN ROBBEN is 13/2 with Hills to score from outside the box.(90m play)

Ferguson admitted he had been concerned by the hyperbole surrounding Rooney at the start of the tournament.

“He was going to be the star, he was going to outshine them all – Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo. So that level of expectation comes into it,” he added.

“And he’s not got great experience of playing in the World Cup really.”

The Scot revealed he was “baffled” by England’s poor form in South Africa. Fabio Capello’s team finished second in their group, behind the United States, and were then hammered 4-1 by Germany in the second round.

“That is going to be one of the imponderables – what has really happened and why are they [England] not getting better form,” stated Ferguson.

“I watched their games and was baffled by what I saw. Expectation was a big thing. They qualified from a group which you’d have to say was a million to one they wouldn’t qualify from. So it was an easy passage into the finals.

“Maybe it would have been better if England had been in a tougher [qualifying] group. They’d have earned the right to be one of the favourites and it would have helped that they’d played good teams before they got there.”
Ferguson said he had been particularly impressed with Germany and argued that their winning mentality and the Bundesliga’s winter break had helped them through to the semi-finals.

“The history they’ve got [in Germany] is quite incredible,” said Ferguson. “That organised mentality they have, the belief in themselves, it carries them a long way.

“The German mentality is ‘we are always in the semi-finals’.

“Plus the fact they get a month’s rest in January – it must help. All the England team are playing [in the Premier League] so they’re all affected [by the lack of a winter break].”

However, Ferguson is tipping the Netherlands – who take on Uruguay in Tuesday’s first semi-final – to win the World Cup.

He added: “I don’t think they have played anywhere near their best form.”

A great weekend of Football Betting, but has it been a classic World Cup? Who will contest the final and who will win the World Cup? Plus more news on what went wrong for England in the latest World Cup Betting Podcast.

So Uruguay play Holland and Germany play Spain in the World Cup Semi-Finals. Spain are favourites to win the World Cup, but we think that Germany are the value here. Listen to the thoughts of the team on our Podcast. Spain are just favourites at 8/5 with Germany 9/5 and the draw 11/5 with Stan James.

Indeed Stan James are betting 12/1 that the Germans score 4 or more goals in the semi-final (90 mins). Spain are the 15/8 favourites to add the World Title to their European success of 2008 when they easily disposed of a German side in transition. Fernando Torres scored the only goal of the game in Vienna two years ago and Spain were much superior on that occasion. Torres has struggled throughout the World Cup and he is likely to be on the bench on Wednesday with Arsenal’s Cesc Fabregas or Athletico Bilboa’s Fernando Llorente introduced to the starting line-up.

Spain are 4/5 to qualify with Germany Even money and that is surely based on reputation rather than what we have witnessed so far in South Africa. It is of course possible that Germany’s attacking style will play into the hands of the Spanish who have been forced to try to break down their defensive-minded opponents in each of their five games in this World Cup to date. Spain will be bidding to become the first nation to win the World Cup having lost their first game in the competition. We haven’t seen the best of La Roja at this tournament although they have done just enough to reach the last four. David Villa is 4/9 to win the Golden Boot and StanJames.com are betting 9/4 that Spain lift the Trophy on Sunday night with Villa top scorer.

Holland are 2/1 with StanJames.com to win Sunday’s World Cup and they ought to have too much for a resilient Uruguay in Cape Town on Tuesday. Uruguay have performed wonders when you consider they are a nation of less than 3 million in reaching the semi-finals and few would have thought they would be the last standing South American country when they drew their first game with France 0-0 last month. Diego Forlan has been a revelation and he is 7/1 to score Tuesday’s opening goal but the Oranje are firm favourites at 4/6 to win in 90 minutes.

Stan James will refund all losing stakes on all goalscorer markets (first/last/anytime/hat-trick/scorecast) if Diego Forlan scores anytime during the 90 minutes on Tuesday and exactly the same with Miroslav Klose on Wednesday evening.
A great weekend of Football Betting, but has it been a classic World Cup? Who will contest the final and who will win the World Cup? Plus more news on what went wrong for England in the latest World Cup Betting Podcast.

Its very exciting, not least the Argentina v Germany game at 3pm. I love the World Cup and there is some interesting World Cup Betting to get stuck in to today!

Where do you start on a day like this. It could be a tale of two games, the highlight being Argentina and Germany with Paraguay and Spain possibly looking like a low scoring affair. The beauty is you never know!

Germany beat England but Argentina look a different proposition, with their we will score one more than you approach. The England team are back now, on holiday and we ask the question, did the country over react?

So here are Saturdays games and best odds….

15:00 Argentina (11/8) D (9/4)Germany (5/2)
Argentina for me, there is value in the betting either way….

19:30 Paraguay (15/2)D (31/10)Spain (1/2)
Could be a dull one, under 2.5 Goals a cert for me….

So here are Saturdays games and best odds....

15:00 Argentina (11/8) D (9/4)Germany (5/2)
Argentina for me, there is value in the betting either way....
Live game odds ( Argentina v Germany, Match Odds ) by InrunningOdds.com (http://www.inrunningodds.com/odds.php?mid=18137&partner=carlharris&maxVisibleColumns=0&autosizewindow=yes)
19:30 Paraguay (15/2)D (31/10)Spain (1/2)
Could be a dull one, under 2.5 Goals a cert for me....
Live game odds ( Paraguay v Spain, Match Odds ) by InrunningOdds.com (http://www.inrunningodds.com/odds.php?mid=18353&partner=carlharris&maxVisibleColumns=0&autosizewindow=yes)
There are some interesting world cup betting specials for Saturday too (from Stan James)
Goalscorer Match bet
David Villa 2/1 Tie 10/11 Higuain 3/1

Which team will score the most goals in their Q/F Matches?
Spain 13/8
Argentina 9/4
Germany 3/1
Paraguay 5/1

Which match will have the most goals?
Argentina v Germany 5/4
Draw 11/4
Paraguay v Spain 6/4

Mythical Match Bet
Spain 5/4
Draw 12/5
Argentina 7/4

Red Card in either game?
Yes - 11/10
No - 4/6

They are really interesting! I think Argentina at 7/4 against Spain is very tasty. This is very exciting World Cup betting!

It appears that Franz Beckenbaur was right, how woeful were England, we won one game against Slovenia, drew with USA and lost to Algeria, wow. Worth £6m a year for the manager?

so we wait another 2 years and try again in Euro2012, assuming we qualify. I wonder if Capello will remain in charge? The bookies are already bettting on the next England manager,

‘We go 1/3 that the next England manager will be English’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.’At least, if he isn’t let’s hope he can speak English.’ Capello actually said he thought we played well against Germany. Need some new specs, and take that referee with you I say.

I hope we can now enjoy a good World Cup and see more goals. Holland and Brazil are the star teams in action on Monday.

Reaction To England’s defeat….

BOOKMAKERS have been saved from a potential £50million+ payout by England’s humiliating exit from the World Cup. And William Hill, who made Fabio 7/4 to be gone by midnight after the match, are already betting on Capello’s successor, and make Harry Redknapp 7/4 favourite. ‘We go 1/3 that the next England manager will be English’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.’At least, if he isn’t let’s hope he can speak English.’

'William Hill alone would have been at least £7m worse off as a result of England winning the World Cup. It was the result we feared, but it now appears that patriotic punters fell for Fabio Capello's unfounded optimism that England would somehow produce form they had never showed at any other time and manage to win the World Cup.
'As a result the bookmaking industry was staring down the barrel of its biggest payout ever of over £50m' said William Hill spokesman Graham Sharpe.
'Even the disallowed goal now looks like a hollow excuse after England's abject collapse in the second half and we are now optimistic that Fabio will have the decency to quit'
HILLS ARE 5/4 THAT CAPELLO IS GONE BY THE END OF THE WORLD CUP.
HILLS OFFER 1/3 THE NEXT MANAGER WILL BE ENGLISH, 9/4 NOT.

WILLIAM HILL - NEXT PERMANENT ENGLAND MANAGER:

Harry Redknapp..7/4

Could history repeat itself? It is 9/2 to go to penalties with England 10/1 to win a shoot-out and Germany 9/1, but there is some great news in todays Sun, we are better at Penalties than the current German team. In a great article they reveal that the players in Germany’s squad in South Africa scored 23 penalties in 29 attempts, a success rate of 79 per cent. But Three Lions stars tucked away 79 out of 98, or 80 per cent. England keeper David James is better at stopping spot kicks than German goalie Manuel Neuer. James has saved nine out of 29, a rate of 37.9 per cent. Neuer has kept out four of 11, or 36.4 per cent.

It is still very tight, but I don’t think it will go to penalties. England look solid at the back and can nick this 1-0 in my view, although a nice 5-1 repeat would be most welcome. England can still win the World Cup in my view at least.
